Composition and classification of black and white masterbatch

Release time:

2026-01-09

Pigments: Mainly titanium dioxide (rutile or anatase), supplemented by inorganic pigments such as barium sulfate and lithopone, providing high whiteness and coverage.

White masterbatch
Pigments: Mainly titanium dioxide (rutile or anatase), supplemented by inorganic pigments such as barium sulfate and lithopone, providing high whiteness and coverage.
Carrier resin: commonly used polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polycarbonate (PC), etc., which need to be compatible with the colored resin. For example, the white masterbatch for PC film uses Bayer PC as the carrier, with a titanium dioxide content of 40%.
Additives: including dispersants, lubricants, antioxidants, etc., to enhance processing stability and finished product performance.
black masterbatch
Pigments: mainly composed of carbon black, classified into high pigment carbon black, medium pigment carbon black, etc. based on particle size and surface treatment, which affects blackness and dispersibility. For example, PC specific black masterbatch uses Cabot high pigment carbon black with a content of 20%.
Carrier resin: Similar to white masterbatch, but the influence of carbon black on resin flowability needs to be considered. For example, the black masterbatch for PP-R pipes uses LDPE as the carrier to improve processing performance.
Additives: Special dispersants and anti-static agents are added to address the characteristics of carbon black, which is prone to flying and difficult to disperse.
